Aulo Terms of Service
Effective: 7 November 2026 · Last updated: 7 November 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Paddles Brewing Co. Pty Ltd, trading as Aulo Travel (ABN 12 660 689 323) ("Aulo", "we", "us"). They cover the Aulo app, which plans road trips around Australia and keeps a journal of them. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Aulo. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information.
The short version
- Aulo helps you plan, but you're the one on the road. Trip plans are written by AI and can be wrong, so check them before you rely on them.
- Don't use the app while you're driving.
- Your trips, journal and photos stay yours, and you can delete them at any time.
- You must be 18 or over.
- Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
This summary is only a guide. The full terms below are what apply.
Your account
- You must be 18 or over to use Aulo.
- An account is for one person. Give us accurate details, keep your password safe and don't share your account.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
- You're responsible for what happens on your account, unless someone got in through no fault of yours.
Using Aulo
While these terms apply, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Aulo on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial travel.
- Internet: planning, place search and sign-in need a connection. Your trips and journal work offline once they're on your phone.
- Fair use: there are daily limits on the AI planner, place search and similar features, to keep the service fair and affordable.
- Early days: Aulo is new and still changing. We may add, change or remove features, and test versions in particular can have bugs. If we remove a main feature, we'll tell you first where we can. Keep your own copy of anything you can't replace.
Trip plans and safety
Aulo is a planning tool. It doesn't replace your own judgement, and the decisions you make on the road are yours.
- Plans can be wrong. The Aulo Planner uses AI to write your trip, and AI makes mistakes. A stop might be closed, seasonal or not where it says. A road might be unsealed or unsuitable. Drive times are estimates. Check anything important before you rely on it.
- Information comes from others. Places, opening hours, photos, routes and drive times come largely from Google and other sources we don't control, and they can be out of date.
- Aulo doesn't warn you about conditions. It doesn't track road closures, floods, bushfires, weather or other hazards. Check official sources before you leave and along the way, such as your state's road and emergency services.
- Know your limits. You decide whether a road, distance or campsite suits your vehicle, your experience and your supplies. Some places need permits, passes or bookings, including national parks and Aboriginal land.
- Don't use Aulo while driving. Pull over somewhere safe or hand your phone to a passenger, and follow the road rules.
- Aulo can't get you help. Remote areas often have no signal, and the app isn't a way to call for help. In an emergency, call Triple Zero (000).
- We don't book anything. Aulo isn't a travel agent or tour operator. Showing or suggesting a place isn't an endorsement, and any stay or activity is between you and whoever provides it.
Your content
Your trips, notes, journal entries and photos are yours. You give us permission to store, copy and process them only so we can run Aulo for you, including sending the parts that are needed to the providers named in our Privacy Policy. We don't use them for marketing. That permission ends when you delete them or your account, as the Privacy Policy describes.
Your trips and journal are private to your account. When you share a trip or a journal day, you choose where it goes, and that app's terms then apply.
Only add things you have the right to use, such as photos you took yourself.
Rules for using Aulo
You must not:
- break the law or anyone's rights;
- use someone else's account, or try to reach anyone else's information;
- get around our limits or security, or disrupt the service;
- copy, scrape or resell Aulo's content, or the maps, places and routes in it;
- reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it;
- use the Aulo Planner to create harmful or illegal content, or in any way that Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy rules out.
Google and other services
Aulo includes Google Maps features and content. Your use of them is subject to the current versions of the Google Maps End User Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
Aulo also relies on other services, such as Google's Gemini AI, sign-in with Google or Apple, and the apps you share to. Their own terms apply when you use them. So do any other terms that cover how you use the app, such as your mobile plan's.
Our rights
The Aulo name, logo, design, software and the content we create belong to us or to those who license them to us. Apart from the licence above, these terms don't give you any rights in them. Open-source software in the app comes under its own licences, listed in Settings → Open Source Licenses.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we can use them without owing you anything.
Paid features and offers
Aulo is free at the moment. If we add paid features, such as Aulo Plus, we'll tell you the price and conditions first, and you'll only pay if you choose to buy. Purchases through the App Store or Google Play also follow their billing and refund rules.
If we run an offer, such as a free subscription for early supporters, its conditions are the ones we publish with it.
Ending your account
You can stop using Aulo whenever you like. Settings → Delete Account deletes your account, trips, journal and photos straight away, and there's no undo.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the Google terms above, if your use puts others or the service at risk, or if the law requires it. Unless it's urgent, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to put things right.
If we ever close Aulo down, we'll try to give you at least 30 days' notice, so you can save what you want to keep.
If something goes wrong
Your consumer rights come first. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes those guarantees, or any other right or remedy the law says we can't take away.
Apart from those rights, and as far as the law allows:
- we don't promise that Aulo will always be available, free of errors or right for your trip;
- we're not liable for loss caused by information from others, or by events outside our reasonable control;
- we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss;
- our total liability to you under or in connection with these terms is limited to the greater of AUD 100 and what you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when Aulo or the law changes, and we'll post the new version here with a new date. If a change is significant, for example it reduces your rights or adds a charge, we'll tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't accept a change, you can stop using Aulo and delete your account before then. A change doesn't apply to anything that happened before it took effect.
Disputes and general terms
- Talk to us first. If you have a problem, email us and we'll try to sort it out within 30 days. You can also go to your state or territory's consumer protection agency at any time.
- Governing law. These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia. Either of us can bring a claim in the courts of New South Wales, or of the Australian state or territory where you live.
- If part of these terms doesn't hold. If a court finds part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If Aulo's business is sold. We can pass these terms to the new owner, as long as your rights aren't reduced.
If you got Aulo from the App Store
These points apply if you downloaded Aulo from Apple's App Store:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We alone are responsible for Aulo and its content.
- Your licence is to use Aulo on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as the App Store's usage rules allow.
- We, not Apple, provide any maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to.
- If Aulo fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund any purchase price you paid for the app. Apple has no other warranty obligation for Aulo.
- We, not Apple, deal with any claims about Aulo or your use of it, including product liability, legal or regulatory, consumer protection and privacy claims.
- If someone claims Aulo or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, deal with that claim.
- You confirm that you're not in a country under a US Government embargo or named by the US Government as supporting terrorism, and that you're not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept them, Apple can enforce them against you.
